Civic Local Foundation announces Q4 2023 grant recipients

Civic Local Foundation is glad to announce three North Carolina nonprofits as our community grant recipients: River City Community Development Corporation, OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling, and StepUp Ministry. We are proud to award each of these impactful nonprofits $25,000 to help them reach their goals in meeting the needs of their community members.

River City Community Development Corporation

River City Community Development Corporation (CDC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening its community through programs and initiatives that create affordable housing, economic and workforce development, health and wellness, and youth empowerment. The grant funds will go toward the purchase of items to furnish a temporary shelter in Elizabeth City for individuals and families who are in transition to permanent housing. The organization aims to house up to 25 guests a night in the shelter as colder weather approaches.

OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling

OnTrack Financial Education and Counseling’s mission is to help people in Western North Carolina achieve financial stability and secure housing through financial education, counseling, and hands-on support. The organization meets participants where they are and helps empower them to overcome crises and improve money management skills, so they feel confident making sound financial choices. OnTrack will use the funding received to match the savings of participants in the organization’s homeowner savings program.

StepUp Ministry

StepUp Ministry offers employment opportunities and life skills training to the Wake County community to create a strong, diverse workforce and build stability for participants. StepUp Ministry’s intergenerational approach helps to break the cycle of poverty that disproportionally affects marginalized communities. The organization will use the grant funds to purchase educational materials and supplies for participants, weekly meals, and assistance with transportation fees for individuals attending job interviews.
